Healthy America Manifesto
Is it crazy to believe that by working at a small company in a no named town in the middle of nowhere Michigan, that I can make America healthy again?
There was a time in this great country of ours where the word organic was not used to charge more for produce, it just meant of natural materials.
1. Early roots (1900s–1940s): Not a buzzword yet
“Organic” originally meant biological or relating to living organisms.
Used mostly in science and early farming philosophy, not marketing.
Influenced by early thinkers like Sir Albert Howard and J.I. Rodale, who promoted soil health and natural farming.
👉 At this point, organic was ideological, not commercial.
“Organic” became a true American buzzword between the late 1980s and early 2000s, peaking after USDA certification turned it from a philosophy into a mass-market label.

Back then, food was grown for people, not profits. Now that society has evolved to the machine we now know today, businesses like Country Life Natural Foods can actually exist and thrive by simply keeping true to the roots that helped build America.
When I was hired, my job was to grow the company. I now realize that my true mission is to make America healthy again.
Since at Country Life I have tried many initiatives that I thought bring in new customers in droves.
Here are just a few:
8-Week Health Challenge: For 8 weeks each year I've taken customers on a transformational journey through the acronym N.E.W.S.T.A.R.T. (Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, Rest, Trust in God). These are the foundational building blocks for a healthy life.
Cooking Class in a Box: I lead in creating 5 video a course teaching how to do health evangelism, where the participant receives a free box of food to actually do health evangelism upon completion.
Country Life Mobile App: Became an Apple and Google developer so that Country Life could have a presence in the App Stores. This has become one of the cheapest channels for new customer acquisition and also the most profitable when factoring LTV.
Country Life Plus: I took what we already existed at Country Life and packaged it into the most value packed shopping experience ever! Free Shipping on everything, Free next day fulfillment, 4% cashback on all order and exclusive member only sales each month.
I could go on, but then it would just be a boring list of projects all aimed at increasing the reach and order velocity at Country Life.
After making all these changes, some more important than others, I realize that making the changes at Country Life is one way we can grow the company. But if I can cause dietary change across the Nation, as a result, we will see sales increase.
So, here is my first attempt -
America, eat healthy again!
